I've been with Audika for some years. I find their service good. The man who works in Argèles on Tuesdays speaks English too. The price you quoted seems within the normal range. If you're still on the British system you can get them free on the NHS, but don't have the choice of types. If you're in F...

In our early days of living here, in France, we were discussing bread with some neighbours.. My husband said it doesn't last as long as British bread as they, the French bakers, don't put in preservatives. When they, the neighbours, had picked themselves up from the ground and dried their eyes they ...

One must register with a G.P. to be reimbursed so I image you'd take your letter/prescription to him/her. As one didn't have to register people were, apparently, going from doctor to doctor for the same thing and getting reimbursed each time, so to keep costs down registration became obligatory a fe...

Chronic health care

As one other contributor mentioned I, also, think chronic health conditions are covered in full. Last January we cancelled our mutuelle and have saved the equivalent to a separate bank account. So far, we've saved over 3000€!!! Luckily and thankfully we have no major health problem (70 & 80 years ol...

Perpignan & Carcassonne airport

I am sorry that Ryanair are not flying into Perpignan this winter. The drive to Carcassonne and back, twice for collection and delivery, costs about 110€. It's fine for the flyer as they get a cheap flight!!! My sister is trying the navette then train to Perpignan this December which, I've been assu...

Unwanted calls

We have our phone listed so callers show up, but there is the occasional qlitch. If a 'secret number' or 'caller unknown' shows up we ignore it. If there's a qlitch we wait for the answer machine to intercept. If it's important and/or a friend they will, most likely, leave a message. You an then int...

I believe it works on most stings, wasps, mozzies etc.
I've even 'sucked out' a bramble thorn.
The one we have is called 'Aspivenom' but I believe there are others on the market.

Hope the weather improves and the rain and wind are not there on Saturday, but be prepared for the extravaganza to be postponed. Parking is well sorted, as in the few previous years, with a field being set aside just for that. It's about opposite Lidl. Residents can get a pass from the Tourist Offic...

I'm bitten every year.
Last year 'they' didn't, apparently, spray at all and this year only half strength.
We have a venom sucker which is excellent for getting out the stings.
They are available from chemists and Decathlon.

Goat cheese

Thanks for that.
It was within the weight and one of those tube-shaped cheeses.
I can't see the difference (apart from the obvious!) as to why one should have been banned as, in my opinion, the consistency of the 2 are similar.

Perpignan airport

My step daughter and her son flew out from Perpignan a few days ago and the security people confiscated a pack of goat cheese but allowed a pack of Camembert. Any one any thoughts as to why the one was allowed through and not the other? I can only think the officer preferred, or forgot to buy, goats...

I agree with Carol's post. I would urge you though, as a wearer of many years, NOT to buy one, but two. The result, with one, will be, in my opinion, uneven and frustrating. The aids are 'tuned' to each ear to get a balance. Another thing to be very aware of is that they will NOT bring your hearing ...
