Re: Banned from the beach

Hello again,

Just to add to my previous post, for anyone who may have the same question as I had, there are now signs up along my local stretch of the Sentier Littoral to say it’s closed. Thanks for your contributions.

Re: Banned from the beach

Hello, I have a related question: does anyone know whether the Sentier Littoral between Banyuls and Argeles is completely closed or not? My 1km radius for walking my dog takes in the easier and less dangerous bits of the coastal path between the Commando fort in Collioure and before you descent the ...

Dog Trainer

Hello, I have acquired a beautiful male labrador, four years old, who is in need of basic training. I’m trying my best but he’s very strong (and I’m fairly slight!) and we’re not getting very far. On a walk this morning with my dog I met a lovely English couple from Maureillas who told me ab...

Perpignan Airport Parking

Thanks Allan and Helen, I’ve pm’d dimidu66 simply to try and find out whether my ten/eleven days parking will be treated as just that, or as a flat two weeks’ parking. I recently left my car at Girona Airport and the airport parking fees couldn’t have been clearer and were based on the exact...

Perpignan Airport Parking

Hi there, I’m perplexed! I want to leave my car at Perpignan airport from Saturday 21st July to later in the day on Tuesday 31st July, which will possibly count as 11 days something or 12 days. The internet French Airport Guide to low cost parking at Perpignan airport (dated 2018) gives the charge...

Dog grille for VW Touran

Hi DSD and Sue and Paul, Many thanks for your replies. In fact, we went into Perpignan yesterday, with the dog doing her Strictly act around the car, and bought a grille there and then from Norauto for 59,95€. I led her round the car park while my partner fitted it and voila! Job done. It’s tran...

Car grill to fit a VW Touran

Hello and a very Happy Christmas to all, Does anyone have a dog grill for sale which will safely and efficiently screen off the boot area of a VW Touran (Dec 2007)? My new and very beautiful black Labrador-cross from SPA Carcassonne is a smart and sassy Houdini-type who would prefer to do the drivin...

Dog Crate

Hi there,

Does anyone have a dog crate suitable for a smallish Lab-cross, to buy, rent or borrow? I’m adopting a rescue dog on Saturday and a crate would be very useful for the early days. I have an almost new medium crate already (36â€￾ length) which is probably too small but I would be happy to swap if someone has a puppy or small dog and would like a suitable crate.

Prescription drugs Online

Hi Kit, This is a very late reply as I've only just read your post from March this year. If you still want some info on using an online pharmacy, I've used Pharmacy2U, a U.K. online pharmacy, with a prescription from my French doctor. This was for a branded drug I couldn't get here in France . If yo...

French Savings Accounts

Hi Martyn Thank you for your reply. If you have any information that might help I'd be glad to hear it, and of course I'm happy to declare it on my tax return. I already have a Livret A and can top it up but there will be some left over. The thing is, I'll need most of the money during the next six ...

French Savings Accounts

Thanks Kate, Sounds as if your money management skills are some way above mine! Thanks for your suggestions. Maybe there really isn't much out there - I thought it was just me being a duffer. I'll do a tour of Collioure banks (shouldn't take long!) and see what's on offer. Might even stray into Port...

French Savings Accounts

Hi there, Can anyone help with the best way to go about finding a decent instant access savings account in France, which pays a bit more interest than a Livret 'A'? I have one of those already and could top it up but the interest is very low. However, it may be the best I'll get. Someone told me abo...

Taxe d'Habitation

Thanks again for the helpful replies. I know, it's sad, hanging around the postbox, but the situation's complicated. I half-suspect my bill may have been sent in error to my old UK address despite the tax authorities having my up to date details. This happened before in slightly different circumstan...

Taxe d'Habitation

Hello,

I'm getting worried because I haven't yet received my Taxe d'Habitation bill for 2016. I live in Collioure - are they just late sending them out this year or am I right to be getting a bit agitated?

Garage Sale

Hi Tia - thanks for responding.

What you say is certainly food for thought. The problem with a Vide Grenier is transporting large pieces of wooden funiture. The cost might outweigh any gains I think. Meanwhile the stuff is sitting in a friend's garage!

Garage Sale

Hello, Together with one or two friends I'd like to hold a garage sale on my Résidence in Collioure, around Easter time - mainly furniture but possibly also a clothes rail. Notaire's Fees

Thanks Klaus, I've delved into it a bit more myself now, and it's not a cheap process! But the major cost is tax, which you pay on the whole value of the house, not just the half that's being transferred to one person. The Notaire's fee is on top of this and is relatively modest. Not sure if this is...

Notary Fee

Hi Klaus,

I'm in a similar position, in that my husband and I are divorcing and I'm going to buy him out of his half-share of our house in Collioure. If you've done the transfer into your sole name by now, I'd be interested to hear how you got on.

Best Wishes,
