Hello. I'm a journalism professor at San Francisco State University and I am planning to bring a group of about 20 North American students and four faculty to Perpignan this summer to study multimedia and produce a Web site about the community.
Working with interpreters, students will interview residents, merchants, craftspeople, artists, local historians and city officials about the life and culture of Perpignan and produce text and video stories about the city. What's unique about Perpignan? What should we know about the city? Who can educate us about the local culture? We're looking for story ideas, sources, resources and other information that may help our project. We are also interested in meeting with local journalists.
We will be based at the ALFMED language academy from June 25-July 23.
We did similar projects last summer in Urbino, Italy and Armagh, Northern. You can see the students' work at http://inurbino.net and http://inarmagh.net.
You can write back here or send information to perpignanproject@gmail.com. Thanks for any help you can provide! _________________ Rachele Kanigel
